The refinery is trying to comply with international quality standards and fulfills all requirements of the Russian Federation’s legislation, as well as of its own regulatory documents forming the basis for prevention of breakdowns, accidents, and incidents at a hazardous industrial facility.
Volgasintez Refinery was founded in 1993 on the of Samara region and is one of the largest oil refinery in Russia and europe, the Samara region, where the most part of Russian oil (72%) reserves is concentrated. The 1st workflow phase with the estimated capacity of 8 million tons p.a.
Over 2.7 billion US dollars is the amount invested in the construction and gradual modernization of the oil refining facility in the Samara region over 11 years. The refinery has finally launched the production of Euro-5 compliant diesel fuel, but it still has some way to go before it can start manufacturing high-octane gasolines.
The Volgasintez Oil Refinery started a new stage in the enterprise development by the commissioning of a hydrotreating unit to produce Euro 5 highest quality diesel fuel. As of today, the refinery’s hydrocarbons refining depth is 52 percent. Next year, the refinery is planning to increase it up to 97 percent and commission another production facility.
